When we first partnered with Law Insider, our goal was clear: connect a beloved legal content brand with the AI tool we’ve been building with our long-time client, SimpleDocs. Earlier this year, I stepped in as product manager for SimpleAI and Law Insider’s Word add-in. Since then, I’ve seen how quickly lawyers have embraced the product, proof of how much appetite there is for AI that fits naturally into their existing workflow.
Today’s acquisition marks a milestone, bringing together two complementary paths under one vision:
- SimpleDocs: built for enterprises that need workflows, repositories, approvals, and governance.
- Law Insider’s Word Add-in: designed for independent lawyers and small firms who want fast, low-friction AI that adapts to their playbooks.
What it means in practice

- For independent lawyers & law firms: a fast, intuitive AI experience inside Word or the browser. Draft, redline, and compare contracts with prioritized risks and insights instantly surfaced.

Why now
The legal-tech landscape is at an inflection point. Budgets are tightening, expectations are rising, and lawyers are demanding tools that actually help them work, not more platforms to manage.
By combining Law Insider’s trusted brand and community with SimpleDocs’ enterprise-grade workflows, this acquisition delivers solutions across the spectrum, making advanced legal technology more accessible, affordable, and effective.
What makes us optimistic
The combined portfolio plays to core strengths: agility, ease of use, and real outcomes over hype. At Telos, it’s been a privilege to help shape this journey, from AI drafting and redlining to workflow automation that connects everything seamlessly.
From my point of view, as a product manager, what excites me most is how this unlocks opportunity on both ends of the market, giving solos premium AI without setup friction, and enterprises a lighter, more flexible alternative.
Seeing two clients we’ve worked closely with converge into something larger is both personally and professionally rewarding. It reinforces what we believe at Telos: great outcomes happen when vision, technology, and community align.
