We’ve previously mentioned that Telos is designing and developing an official PWA for all the conference attendees.
In addition, here is the Figma community app template. You can use it either to make modifications to our existing open-source app or as an aid in creating your own app.
One of the exciting aspects of this Figma Community template is its high level of configurability. The template already includes the major features - such as the agenda management, scheduling sessions and networking tools - designed in high fidelity, fully integrated, and ready for immediate use and modification for any given conference. This is ideal for designers and companies who want to develop their own conference app while minimizing investment in design.
We initiated a Design Sprint to create a compelling user experience for the Rails World 2024 conference, as well as establish the foundation of an open source app that can be adjusted for other kinds of conferences.
By following these good design practices, Product Design and Developer teams can easily develop new components and readily understand the design system library (such as color hex values, typography, and spacing). These practices are key in ensuring a productive collaboration between design and development.
We hope this open-source design resource will help accelerate the use of the Rails World conference app outside of the Rails World context so anyone can create an engaging conference app that suits their needs!
