Building the workflows behind emergency financial assistance

During the COVID-19 pandemic, SaverLife's emergency assistance program distributed more than US$4 million in financial relief. We helped build the application, eligibility review, and payment workflows supporting that effort.

The challenge

Connect an application for help with a program decision

An assistance request needed to move through submission, eligibility checks, staff review, and resolution. Different funded programs had their own participation conditions and limits. Some applications required more information before a decision could be made.

The software needed to connect the member-facing application with the operational work required to administer those programs.

The work

Create the application journey

Dedicated landing pages and onboarding flows introduced the programs and collected the information needed for an application. The implementation connected the request with the member’s account and the relevant program.

Represent review as a process with explicit states

The application model supported submitted, flagged, approved, rejected, and information-request states. Members could resubmit when additional information was required. Administrative interfaces gave staff a place to review and resolve requests.

Apply the conditions of each program

The workflow connected applications with program invitations, verification requirements, and available program capacity. Eligibility depended on the particular flow and program configuration.

Connect approval with reward generation

Approved requests entered the reward and payment workflow. Application records retained their relationship to the resulting reward, allowing the assistance process and its payment handoff to remain connected.

What the work delivered

  • Program-specific landing pages and application flows.
  • Submission, review, information requests, and resubmission.
  • Invitation matching and program eligibility checks.
  • Program-capacity rules and approval records.
  • Connections from approved requests to rewards and payment processing.

The result

An operational process for administering assistance through the platform

SaverLife’s COVID-19 emergency assistance program distributed more than US$4 million in financial relief. The platform connected member applications with eligibility checks, staff decisions, and payment handoffs needed to administer that assistance.
