Turning debt information into a practical next step

Understanding a debt balance is one part of deciding what to do next. We helped SaverLife develop a guided journey that connects a financial check-in, debt tracking, spending review, payoff scenarios, and savings-buffer planning.

Implemented planning tools; availability depends on rollout configuration

The challenge

Help members move through several connected decisions

A useful debt plan depends on balances, interest rates, minimum payments, everyday expenses, and the money someone might be able to set aside. Members also need to revisit information as their circumstances change.

The product needed to connect these inputs without turning the experience into one long form. Each step had to contribute to the broader plan while preserving progress and allowing supported edits.

The work

The implementation connects a check-in, debt tracker, expense snapshot, payoff plan, and safety-net activity. Prerequisites make later tools available when their supporting information exists. Progress handling distinguishes unfinished work from activities the member has already completed.

Combine connected information with member input

The tracker supports manually entered debt information and supported Plaid liability data. The expense snapshot can use connected-account transaction estimates, with an editable experience for the member to review the figures.

Make payment scenarios concrete

The payoff tool calculates projections using balances, interest rates, minimum payments, and additional-payment amounts. Members can explore how a scenario changes the projected timeline and save a payment pledge. The calculations use defined application logic.

Connect debt planning with a savings buffer

The safety-net activity uses expense and pledge information to support a savings goal. The wider journey includes a downloadable plan and links to counseling resources, giving members ways to carry the work beyond an individual screen.

What the product supports

  • A five-part journey with prerequisites and saved progress.
  • Debt entry and supported connected-account liabilities.
  • An editable expense snapshot.
  • Payoff projections and additional-payment scenarios.
  • Saved pledges and safety-net planning.
  • A downloadable plan and counseling-resource links.

The result

Financial information became part of a guided planning experience

The tools connect a member’s debt and expense information with scenarios and saved choices. Members can work through related steps and revisit supported parts of the plan as their inputs change.

The projections illustrate the effects of entered assumptions. Actual outcomes depend on subsequent payments and changes to a member’s circumstances.

What does a user need to decide after seeing their data?

A useful financial tool connects information with understandable scenarios, editable assumptions, and an action the person can carry forward.
